2010.GLOBALTEMP.WARMEST

Why are we seeing bids at 58 for this contract? We've had a couple of very warm months (with March looking to be a third such month), but I gather these are due in large part to an El Nino event (which tends to result in net warmer temperatures during the winter) and which is scheduled to end in "early spring".
2009.GLOBALTEMP.TOP5 Aug-Dec, Sep-Dec and now Oct-Dec Graph

I'd still find the TOP2 or TOP3 contracts interesting with 1 or 2 months to go, I don't think it is completely clear where this year will land.

With respect to the longer 1-2 year contracts:
Yes you would have to find a significant misprice to make these worth your while. And that is even assuming you have an infinite (or very large) bankroll - which is not the case for myself. I always keep in mind the opportunity cost of my money, as margin that is not tied up can be used to make money in ...

Climate Change contracts

Is there any doubt that Copenhagen ended without any emissions targets as part of the UNFCCC process.
The Copenhagen Accord, as it was named last night, makes reference to the need to keep temperature rises to no more than 2C and says rich countries will commit to cutting greenhouse gases and developing nations will take steps to limit the growth of their emissions – but sets no targets.
Look, all I know is, you estimated the probability at 30, and I offered to sell to you at 25. I have no idea why you would estimate 30 and ignore a bid at 10. People use all kinds of trading strategies, so I just threw the offer out.
