I'm 22, a libertarian, and didn't have much to invest.
But I did well this election day! It was very interesting learning to keep my bias in check. (RIP a few hundred $$ from the SCOTUS mandate decision/Romney 2nd debate CNN poll)

My map was accurate minus VA and what looks like an eventual Obama win in FL, and my senate predictions were spot on. (Thanks Sabato!)

Hope all of you all did well! Let us all know how you did!

Personally I went close to all out on Obama winning CO after I'd made about $50 on the formerly undervalued Demprez/Demsenate/Repubhouse

Turns out I was right to bet on the Obama CO ground game + CO amendment 64 bringing out traditionally dem demographics.

Someone show off some high stakes win please so I can glow with envy.

Was my first trade here:

Bought 83 obama shares at 6.03.

So quite a small player.

There's a certain poster here (Strangelove) that had over 100K on Obama longs at under $6. So he's made an unbelievable amount.

I chucked virtually my entire checking account at Obama longs at 5.89 a share a few months back. I ditched them all at around $6 hoping the market would lower more than freaked and bought back in at $6.16 (it eventually went down to $5.50 for no reason other than conservatives manipulating the market with their hopes). So, ultimately, I made almost $1900 off this but lost about $170 in money I could have made had I stuck with what I had.

People could have easily doubled up their money relatively consistently.....selling Obama when he was at 8, investing in Romney before debate, hopping back to Obama, investing heavily in an Obama second debate win, getting in on the Democrats to regain House market a few hours after a university poll proved it was possible (this was pre-first debate), etc. Lots of opportunities abounded for those that were into letting it all ride.

Yeah obviously with 20/20 hindsight one could have done extraordinarily well. (although it isn't that farfetched as incumbents tend to lose the first debate)

If true, congrats to Stangelove on his new Porsche, or hybrid, or whatever you liberal intraders do these days.

- Where is your risk management? Could you afford to lose your checking balance?

- Do you trade other markets or on the stock exchange as well? Your last statement is ridicoulous. No human can trade and time a market like that

(because of rebalancing you lost $170 = bad timing)

If someone bet the farm on the historically common post-first-debate challenger bump, it would actually be possible. (Although very likely not sales at absolute peak/longs at absolute bottom of course)

I bet at least a few folks here played that well.

First timer here. I wired in $1000 on Monday, and luckily it got there by early Tuesday morning, so I had plenty of time to participate.

I ended up going long on 6 Obama positions, and short on 2 Romney positions. As far as I can tell, all of them should pan out in my favor. (I do have 12 Obama PV +2.0 shares and 1 Obama FL share, but there are current offers for around $9.50, so I can easily sell for about the same profit if I notice anything unexpected in the vote totals as they come in.)

At the end of the day, my account should have $1,740.34 for a total profit of $740.34, or basically a 74% return.

Not bad for one day's work, eh?

Not a big win, ~$1650 past invest from the presidency and congress/presidential combinations. Sold short between 9.70 to 9.90 on winners to unfreeze funds before "official" determination goes through. Well dug into the Academy awards.

Obama just inherited one of the worst situations in history -- terrible economy, huge debt, revenue cliff -- all of his own making.

Who's he going to blame now?

If you're gonna gloat, it's against guys like me. But your 'ilk' is demonstrating a bit of ugliness.

Isn't a gloat dance supposed to be compelling, or interesting?
