Ever since I joined Intrade last year until now, this issue has not been resolved.

Let's say, this is the first time I am shorting CONTRACT A then the total PL would made a correct calculation. However, as I am changing my position in this contract, then the TOT PL cant be trusted anymore.

This is just an illustration of one item showing in my trade screen

CONTRACT A. -30 30 20 -49.55

How can that be possible? I am shorting 30 contracts and the price went down, yet I am in the mud for -$50

Am I missing something here? (perhaps that Intrade takes the figure from some cummulative history that I miss?)

I've never noticed what you are talking about.

Are you sure you copied and pasted it right?

P/L takes into account both the profit/loss on your currently held shares, plus whatever you've traded on that contract in the past. So in your case you must have lost about $80 on that contract earlier, which is partially canceled out by your $30 gain on the current shares.

Knowing the profit/loss on currently held shares would be more useful. What do I care what I've made or lost in the past?

Calculating current P/L is trivial -- (cost basis minus last trade) times number of shares divided by ten.

Previous P/L is more difficult to calculate as you have to go through all your previous trades and probably set up a spreadsheet.

Hi folks,

The value displayed is the netPL on the position plus the unrealized pl calculated from the last trade price.

Does this help?

Best,

John
