I'm extremely upset as well. Didn't realize and very surprised not a single comparable site exists!
Selling the TS platform with/without its brand is not an option? Quite the no-brainer, win-win opportunity there for both InTrade and some buyer. Am I missing something?

There certainly is, Anthalon. More reputable than TS imo also.
TS slowly broke down their site - bec just as Intrade - they did not want people "complaining". No forum, no chat, less live help hours, blah blah. Why listen to customers? You are out customer now - so we no longer care what you think.

why wouldn't tradesports seek an unaffiliated buyer? the site must be worth a considerable amount to someone who doesn't have to worry about the relationship with intrade. i think even if intrade wants the name "tradesports" to go away, the expertise and customer base of tradesports would be worth something to another player - why was tradesports closed instead of sold? thanks

I tried, Lisa, but no response from TS.
I emailed you a response from your email. Hopefully you stop past my website.

Todd, I have NEVER heard you say one positive thing about TradeSports or Intrade after all these years.
While there is always room for improvement when it comes to running these sites, I question what your objective was concerning your numerous criticisms that you voiced in these forums.
After what must have been your 100th publicly voiced complaint, I can understand why the management at TradeSports and Intrade indirectly told you to take your business elsewhere if you're so displeased with the quality of service they are providing.
I'm sure they just got tired of hearing to your constant complaining.

Andywend,
I am very appreciative for your support. Thank you.
The fact that any one member is typically the very first or loudest or has the greatest endurance to highlight a real or anticipated weaknesses is valuable to me and indeed Intrade. While it is not always easy to have your weaknesses pointed out, it is always better to be aware of them. Members such as Todd and others perform a valuable free service for Intrade.
I also view it as a positive sign that some are so energised to encourage us to improve they invest time and energy to re-publish the issues on other chat rooms and blogs for support. I expect my view may seem contrarian, particularly if you are of a certain mindset.
Where I do draw the line however and what I will not tolerate is when I believe that there is some ulterior motive at play, where the posts are damaging to Intrade and/or are in contravention of the T&C’s or rules. In such circumstances that member will be quickly banned.
Best regards from Dublin on a rainy Sunday morning.
John

Actually Andy, you are wrong.
But I have no way to prove that to you - Bec they deleted selected users posts when they transfered the databases.
In the years that I have traded here - judging by past lot count movements - I was one of the most active traders on either site before the split - but a good portion my business has moved elsewhere.
I have always said TS/Intrade was a very safe place to have your money and never questioned that. I have also been complimentary of the platform and lay out of the system.
However - when issues are brought to their attention, they immediately dispell them with the we know better attitude. When you provide them with EXACT data to close their contracts - they chose to continue to use arbitrary data. When you tell them at least 3 or 4 times that their site crashes in peak usage periods - and it takes over two years to get it fixed. How would you react? Unless you dont care - or dont trade. Do you like being deceived about how you can move your money and what website you are really depositing too when checks from Intrade and Tradesports are coming from the same bank account and no one will answer why?
I would welcome the management of TS/IT to post up how much money in fees/commissions I have contributed over my 2+ yr lifetime at TS and Intrade. And maybe that would show you that my concerns are based on my contributions. My trading here has been greatly reduced as of late for both IT and TS.
But there will always be those that are satisfied or wont voice their displeasure ever. Plenty of people agree with you Andy, but plenty also agree with me.
And of course, Intrade management will love you.

I don't know if intrade drives up the volume by using their own money. But I wouldn't mind at all if they do that. In fact I encourage them. If they can drive up the volume for HIGGS.BOSON.DEC09 even near the current price, I'm happy to short it. Their money is as good as anybody else's.

Many deceptive practices. But the most decpetive is two sperate websites.
Evern this morning - with no contracts listed on TS - Both Intrade and TS have the same message up, word for word.
"We are currently experiencing technical problems and all trading services are offline. We are working to correct this ASAP. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience."

Todd, I've only ever seen you do two things on these forums: make baseless complaints about Intrade, and spam your sports chatter site. I'm totally unsurprised that management has chosen to edit or remove your posts.

John Delaney,
The sudden TS closure news was very disappointing, as other sports trading pricing just don't compare. So this situation begs the question: why not sell the unique TS platform, with or without its brand name?
Obviously, members and competitors alike recognize TS's considerable market value. Selling TS satisfies your former loyal members, AND you reap the $ profits.
Your Forum participation here is appreciated. I will continue to be an Intrade member, although frankly not nearly as active as I was with TS.
Please explain why TS has not been sold, or better yet surprise us that good news may be around the corner.
Thanks in advance to your explanation.
Regards,
-zman

It is old news that TS and Intrade has always been a single entity. As I have said in my earlier post which has been moderated...
"As long as Intrade does not end up like this." *Inserts empty office pic* All is well.
